habit of Mind: Evidence and Wonder

Wonder; who? What? When? Where? Why? How? These are the questions that make us wonder. If we didn't wonder about anything we wouldn't get anywhere in life. If people didn't wonder about how to make their life better we would all be still living in caves. But we do wonder. Humans have the capability to wonder about a better life. I wonder about how I can bring my grade up in school to go to collage and eventually have a better life. And if we don't wonder about the bad things in life like global warming and war, we will be stuck in the exact same place that we are now. But everywhere people do wonder about the unknown and people think of ideas to prevent the bad things that are bound to happen. People everywhere come up with new ideas to solve our problems. And when people come up with those ideas they need a little thing called evidence to back up their wonders.

Evidence, to me means proof or to prove. To prove that their wonders were correct. Evidence is used in almost anything. Scientists need evidence that proves that they are right. Without evidence or proof, we wouldn't learn anything. In math you need evidence to show that you know the math concept. In law, a lawyer needs to have un-disputable evidence that their client is not guilty and vice verse. When I Write a paper in class about global warming I need to have evidence that global warming is a bad thing. Evidence is the key to learn and to progress in life.

I especially appreciated your connection to wonder leading to solutions.
